Ingredients

  • 3 cups 430 g mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • Zest of half an orange
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup optional
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  • Place the berries, juice, zest, spices, and syrup to a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally to break up the berries and prevent scorching.
  • Once it reaches a boil, lower the heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring often, continuing to break up the fruit.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the chia seeds. Let cool and pour into a storage container, and keep refrigerated for up to a week.
