Are you experiencing symptoms that you think are caused by COVID-19 but would like to make sure? Have you had a positive PCR test for COVID-19 and would like to know whether you have developed antibodies?
As a registered practitioner, I can arrange Medichecks’ new Coronavirus Antibody Blood Test which looks for immunoglobin G (IgG) antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. A positive result means that your patient has detectable levels of IgG antibodies in their blood.
We do not yet know whether this means that they are immune to coronavirus, or if they are immune, how long that immunity will last.
This serology blood test has been developed by Abbott Laboratories, a global medical devices and healthcare company. It is a laboratory test using chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) technology. It is CE-marked which means that it conforms with European standards for the design and manufacture of such tests.
