We all know that taking care of our bodies is important, but with busy lives, it can be easy to let our health fall by the wayside. That’s why we’ve put together this hormone health checklist for busy women. From menopause to fibroids to PCOS, this checklist covers all the bases when it comes to keeping your hormones in check.
1, Get regular checkups and screenings. This is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health, not just your hormonal health. Be sure to get a Pap smears, and bone density test if you’re over 50. You should also get your fasting insulin levels checked if you have any concerns about diabetes or PCOS.
2. Watch your weight. Gaining weight can lead to a whole host of health problems, including hormone imbalances. If you’re carrying around extra weight, now is the time to lose it. Not only will you feel better mentally and physically, but you’ll also be doing your hormone health a favor
3. Limit alcohol intake. Alcohol can interfere with ovulation and disrupt hormone levels, so it’s best to limit your intake to 1-2 drinks per week. If you do drink more than that, be sure to begin spacing out your drinks by having at least two alcohol-free days in between drinking days with the aiming of significantly reducing it.
4. Quit smoking. Smoking has been linked to a number of health problems, including an increased risk of cancer and heart disease. It can also contribute to hormone imbalances and make it difficult to lose weight. If you smoke, now is the time to quit for good!
5 . Manage stress levels . Stress can wreak havoc on your hormones , so it’s important to find ways to manage it . Exercise , meditation , and spending time with friends and family are all great ways to reduce stress . If you’re feeling particularly stressed , consider talking to a therapist or counsellor.
